Purpose and Scope
The EHS Coordinator plays a key role in supporting and advancing MacDon's safety culture through employee engagement, technology, and continuous improvement. This position provides day-to-day support for environmental, health, and safety programs while helping ensure regulatory compliance, maintain management systems, and drive safety performance across the organization with the optimization of our EHS digital platforms.
Primary Job Responsibilities
The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position:
- Provide day-to-day EHS guidance and support to employees and leaders.
- Administer and improve EHS digital systems and tools, including SharePoint, Microsoft 365 applications, dashboards, and reporting platforms.
- Collect and maintain EHS data to support trend analysis and key performance indicators.
- Maintain accurate EHS records, reports, and regulatory documentation.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS communications and improvement initiatives.
- Support the administration and maintenance of the Safety Management System, including programs, procedures, risk assessments, and related documentation.
- Support compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety legislation, regulations, and company requirements.
- Promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, communication, and participation in safety initiatives.
- Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and risk assessments.
- Participate and complete workplace inspections, audits, and follow-up activities.
- Support on-going SAFE Work Certification activities.
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team
- Assist with coordinating multiple Joint Safety and Health Committee activities and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support EHS objectives and initiatives.
- Perform other related duties and continuous improvement projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Experience with SAFE Work Certification and safety management systems.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Training/Certifications in EHS topics such as: Ergonomics, WHMIS, Laser Safety, Emergency Response, etc.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Forms, Power BI, Outlook, and other collaboration and reporting tools.
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety and health legislation, environmental regulations, CSA standards, and applicable fire, building, and life-safety codes.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and time management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing team environment, as well as independently.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to collect, interpret, and communicate EHS data, trends, and performance metrics.
