Trillium Animal Hospital is a new, locally owned small animal veterinary hospital opening in Duncan, BC. We are passionate about providing exceptional medical care while creating a welcoming, supportive environment for our patients, clients, and team members.
We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. Whether you’re an experienced assistant or looking to build your career in veterinary medicine, you’ll play an important role in supporting our veterinarians and technicians while helping provide outstanding care to our patients.
What You’ll Do
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and treatments.
- Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats using low-stress handling techniques whenever possible.
- Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain hospital equipment and workspaces.
- Help prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and surgery.
- Monitor and care for hospitalized patients under the direction of the veterinary team.
- Help perform laboratory tasks, including sample preparation and running in-house diagnostic tests.
- Fill prescriptions and prepare medications as directed.
- Maintain inventory and stock supplies throughout the hospital.
- Assist with admitting and discharging patients while providing compassionate support to clients.
- Support all areas of the hospital to help ensure smooth daily operations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred.
- Veterinary Assistant certification is considered an asset but is not required.
- Experience with laboratory procedures, animal restraint, and patient care is an asset.
- Familiarity with veterinary practice management software is beneficial.
