Position Overview
The Cook is responsible to prepare, cook, and follow established recipes to be served to guests while adhering to health and safety standards. Additionally, Cooks assist in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitization of the kitchens.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Weigh, measure, mix and assemble ingredients to create menu items
- Cook, arrange, and garnish menu items as per established recipes
- Steam, grill, boil, bake, or fry meats, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients
- Ensure consistency in dishes
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Prepare food for daily services (e.g. chop vegetables, cut meat, prepare sauces, etc)
- Check food and ingredients daily to ensure freshness in the kitchen and any display fridge
- Record any food disposed of due to expiration or other reason for waste
- Rotate stock itemsestock kitchen for subsequent shifts
- Safely store food items at appropriate temperatures
- Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen area are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces
- Unload and store food deliveries
- Assist in washing dishes to ensure efficiency and cleanliness in the kitchen
- Take out garbage
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with all co-workers and customers
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Adhere to all company and department policies and procedures
- Other duties as reasonable and assigned
Working Conditions
- May be required to stand, sit or bend for extended periods of time
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
- Must be available to work a rotating shift support the Casino hours of operations (holidays and weekend included)
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Experience & Qualifications Required
- Education in Culinary or cooking experience preferred
- Ability to read and follow standardized recipes
- Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Must be 19 years or over
- Team-working skills
- Attention to detail
- The ability to cope with the consequent pressure
