Job Description
At AECOM, we deliver innovative solutions for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, helping communities meet their current and future needs through sustainable and resilient engineering. From treatment facilities and pumping stations to linear infrastructure and rehabilitation projects, our teams work collaboratively to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.
As part of our continued growth, AECOM is actively seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Project EIT to join our Process Engineering – Water team in Burnaby or Victoria, BC. The Junior Project EIT will support our engineering team on an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) program, focusing on lean collaboration, disciplined coordination, and reliable delivery.
In this newly created role, the successful candidate will support the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers. The candidate will play a key role in facilitating design coordination, managing document control, tracking actions, and generating reports to maintain the team’s alignment with project milestones and commitments. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop technical, project delivery, and client-facing skills while contributing to meaningful infrastructure projects.
The responsibilities of this position include:
-
Supporting the delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and related infrastructure projects.
-
Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams and communicating effectively with clients and stakeholders.
-
Coordinating IPD “Big Room” sessions and pull-planning workshops; scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, capturing minutes, and tracking actions to closure.
-
Maintaining project logs (submittals, transmittals, issues & decision register) and ensuring timely routing, responses, and version control.
-
Facilitating cross-discipline design coordination; managing model exchange schedules and distributing clash/coordination reports with clear action owners and dates.
-
Supporting quality processes: organizing design reviews, tracking review comments to closure, and maintaining checklists and deliverable registers.
-
Providing construction administration and field services support, including site visits and field reviews.
-
Preparing concise status reports and dashboards on schedule, risks, issues, and KPIs; verifying data accuracy prior to circulation.
-
Performing assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
-
Supporting equipment selection, data analysis, and technical evaluations.
-
Assisting with quantity take-offs, cost estimating, and project planning activities.
-
Undertaking preliminary and detailed engineering design activities under the supervision of experienced engineers.
-
Preparing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and tender documents.
-
Utilizing industry-standard engineering software to support project delivery.
-
Actively engaging in professional development and working toward achieving professional engineering designation.
