We are seeking a dedicated Asbestos Abatement Technician to join our clients team. An Asbestos Abatement Technician is responsible for the safe removal, handling, containment, and disposal of asbestos-containing materials from residential, commercial, and industrial sites. This role requires strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and company procedures to protect workers, occupants, and the surrounding environment.
Pay: $25.00/hour
Key Responsibilities
- Remove and dispose of asbestos-containing materials safely and in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
- Set up and maintain containment areas, negative air systems, and decontamination units.
- Perform site preparation, including sealing work areas and posting appropriate hazard signage.
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators.
- Conduct demolition and removal activities using approved methods and equipment.
- Package, label, and transport asbestos waste for proper disposal.
- Monitor work areas to ensure compliance with safety procedures and air quality requirements.
- Complete daily documentation, hazard assessments, and site reports.
- Assist with site cleanup and restoration activities upon project completion.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and fit testing requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous asbestos abatement, demolition, construction, or environmental remediation experience preferred.
- Valid asbestos abatement certification (where required).
- Ability to pass respirator fit testing and medical assessments.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in physically demanding environments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Work in PPE and respirators for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and indoor/outdoor environments.
