Overview
We are seeking a Building Engineer to join a facility operations team supporting a large commercial property in Calgary. This role will primarily focus on water treatment operations while assisting with HVAC service calls and preventive maintenance activities. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced operators, gaining exposure to multiple building systems while ensuring efficient and safe facility operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a newly certified 4th Class Power Engineer looking to start their career, as well as candidates with some hands-on building operations experience.
### Key Responsibilities
* Support daily water treatment operations and monitoring activities.
* Assist with HVAC service calls and troubleshooting.
* Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
* Monitor, maintain, and support building mechanical systems.
* Assist with inspections and routine operational checks.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
* Collaborate with facility operators and engineering team members.
* Follow safety procedures and operational best practices.
### Required Technical Skills
* 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate/Ticket.
* Basic understanding of building operations and maintenance.
* Knowledge of water treatment systems and processes.
* Familiarity with HVAC systems and preventive maintenance practices.
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
### Preferred Skills
* Previous experience in commercial building operations, facility maintenance, or related environments.
* Exposure to mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC systems.
* Experience working in a team-oriented maintenance environment.
### Nice to Have
* Experience supporting water treatment programs in commercial or industrial facilities.
* Exposure to computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
### Soft Skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Willingness to learn and be trained.
* Reliable and professional work ethic.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
### Qualifications
* 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate/Ticket (Required).
* Entry-level candidates with certification are encouraged to apply.
* Related work experience is considered an asset but not mandatory.
