Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Dairy Herds Person to join our family farm. This role involves the daily care and management of dairy cattle, ensuring their health, safety, and productivity. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, mechanical knowledge, and experience working with farm machinery. Duties
- Feed and water dairy cattle according to established schedules and nutritional guidelines
- Monitor herd health, identify signs of illness or distress, and assist with veterinary care as needed
- Maintain clean and safe living environments for the animals, including bedding management
- Operate farm machinery such as tractors, feed mixers, and milking equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment and machinery
- Assist with milking procedures, ensuring proper hygiene and animal handling protocols are followed
- Manage manure removal and waste disposal in accordance with environmental standards
- Record daily activities, health observations, and production data accurately for management review
Qualifications
- Prior experience working on a farm or in an agricultural setting is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently (up to 50 pounds)
- Familiarity with farm equipment operation such as tractors, feed systems, and milking machines is a plus
- Strong physical stamina to handle long hours of standing, walking, and manual labor
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and herd management principles is advantageous
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adhere to safety protocols
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
