Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Intermediate Accountant to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will have 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction, real estate development, or property management industry.
This position will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, project accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the company.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and comfortable managing financial responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting for multiple companies, projects, or entities.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and adjusting entries.
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, payment preparation, and vendor account reconciliation.
- Review and process vendor invoices, subcontractor billings, employee expenses, and corporate credit card transactions
- Prepare monthly bank, credit card, loan, intercompany, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate construction and development project-cost records and monitor actual expenditures against approved budgets.
- Review and track contractor progress billings, deposits, holdbacks, payments, project commitments, and change orders.
- Maintain current records of construction contracts, purchase orders, commitments, and change orders.
- Assist with the preparation of lender draw requests and maintain supporting documentation for project advances.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with cash-flow reporting, forecasting, and project-level financial analysis.
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, lenders, property managers, consultants, and internal project teams.
- Investigate accounting discrepancies and prepare or recommend appropriate corrections.
- Assist with strengthening accounting procedures, internal controls, documentation, and reporting processes.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience in construction, real estate development, property management, or a related industry is strongly preferred.
- Good understanding of full-cycle accounting and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Experience with project accounting and job-costing is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial schedules.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Procore or similar accounting software is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple companies, projects, and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required for local errands and bank runs.
