Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Fencing Labourer to join our construction team. This role involves assisting with fencing projects, supporting various aspects of site preparation and installation, and working alongside skilled tradespeople to ensure quality craftsmanship. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and an interest in construction-related tasks. Prior experience in construction or related fields is a plus but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in fencing, carpentry, and general construction.
Duties
- Assist with the installation of fencing according to project specifications and schematics
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment safely and effectively
- Read blueprints and schematics to understand project requirements
- Prepare sites by clearing debris, setting up forms, and performing concrete forming as needed
- Measure and cut materials accurately for fencing components
- Support concrete finishing, masonry, or other related tasks as required
- Assist with the operation of heavy equipment such as post drivers or excavators when necessary
- Follow safety protocols including proper use of caulking, welding, or electrical tools when applicable
- Maintain a clean work environment and ensure tools are properly stored after use
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Experience
- Prior experience in fencing construction, carpentry, masonry, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for motivated candidates
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating is advantageous
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, concrete finishing, flooring installation, tile laying, plumbing, electrical experience, welding, restoration work, cabinet installation, or construction painting is a plus
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently is desirable
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual labor for extended periods
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude are essential
