Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing exceptional customer service and support in an optical setting.
Duties:
- Greet and assist patients in selecting eyewear frames
- Take accurate measurements for eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Educate patients on lens options and coatings
- Process transactions including insuarnce claims (Indigenous Affairs, Ontario Health Insurance Plan, Ontario Disibility Support program and Ontario Works)
- Process orders and maintain accurate patient records
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
- Assist with frame inventory management
- Managing invoicing and payments
Qualifications:
- Certified Optical Assistant/Licensed Optician (preferred)
- Confortable using technology
- Experience in retail sales, preferably in an optical setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry
- Familiarity with optical laboratory procedures
- Strong sales skills with a customer-centered approach
- Understanding of optical products and services
- Ability to deal with delicate and personal information in a confidential manner
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
