We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. This role involves implementing educational programs and supporting children's developmental needs, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Strong communication skills are highly valued to communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues, along with experience working with children and individuals with disabilities. The RECE will play a vital role in fostering early childhood development through effective communication, organization, and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration & creativity
- Develop and implement age-appropriate educational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development
- Follow our Christian Curriculum and create plans that align with the ATCD mission and Vision
- Lead classroom activities that promote teamwork and cooperation
- Support children with diverse needs, including those requiring special education or accommodations for disabilities
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and team members to ensure a collaborative and inclusive environment
- Maintain accurate documentation of children's progress and daily activities
- Communicate effectively & regularly with parents and guardians regarding children's development, progress, concerns and classroom events
- Manage classroom routines, including scheduling, transitions, and behaviour management.
- Utilize computer skills to maintain records, prepare educational materials, and communicate via digital platforms
- Demonstrate leadership by guiding assistant staff or volunteers as needed

- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and organizational policies.
Requirements
- Valid registration as an RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator)
- Must be in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Experience working with children in early childhood settings; classroom experience preferred
- Clear understanding of ELECT and How Does Learning Happen
- Ability to work effectively with children who have special needs or disabilities
- Strong leadership skills to guide young learners effectively, and support team collaboration and mentorship roles when necessary
- Excellent time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities efficiently within the classroom
- Ability to write clear reports and communicate effectively with parents and staff
- Proficiency in English & strong communication skills to engage with children, families, and team members effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing classroom activities and documentation.
- Computer literacy including basic computer operation and familiarity with educational software or platforms such as HiMama/Lillio
- A genuine passion for educating young children and fostering their development
- Must be able to work in rotational shifts, ie, 7:00-4:00 / 8:00-5:00 / 8:30-5:30 / 9:00-6:00 with a one-hour unpaid lunch.
