The Manufacturing Engineering Technologist or Technician (Tech.) provides technical support to the engineering team and production personnel. The Manufacturing Engineering Tech. provides specific part requirements (such as manufacturing instructions, CNC codes, etc.) and assists in the implementation of manufacturing process changes and improvements, as well as root cause analysis and corrective actions.
The Manufacturing Engineering Tech. adheres to a culture defined by safety, quality, teamwork and responsibility.
As part of a diverse team in the Engineering Department, you will:

Draft technical documents such as manufacturing and reworking drawings/work instructions.

Implement technical changes and process improvements and coordinate changes in the construction process.

Optimise production flow to meet programme deadlines.

Participating in the design and interpretation of conventional and computer-aided design (CAD) technical drawings, plans and specifications.

Develop applications using CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing) for the control of robots, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines and other manufacturing processes and operations.

Participate in the design of moulds, tools, jigs and fixtures.

Supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions for defects and process improvements.

Contribute to the identification of production risks and the implementation of mitigation plans.

Perform a limited range of mechanical testing and analysis of machines, components and materials to support manufacturing process validation activities and qualifications.
You have:
-
A two or three year college degree (e.g. DEC in QC) in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, aerospace engineering, composite materials engineering, manufacturing or a related technical field, combined with three years' work experience.

A minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical, industrial, aerospace or manufacturing engineering.

Eligibility for a Canadian technician or technologist designation is an asset.

Experience of composite or aerospace manufacturing processes.

Ability to create, read and interpret mechanical engineering and tolerancing drawings, bills of materials, schematics, CAD/CAM models (Catia V5 an asset), specifications and other technical data.

Proven experience of producing manufacturing drawings/work instructions.

Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and principles.

Ability to interact professionally with various groups and departments.

Professional command of English is an asset.
