EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR

DUTIES
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Early Childhood Education (ECE), the Early Childhood Education Instructor will work with the ECE
Program Coordinator and other ECE Instructors to deliver courses on-campus in the two-year ECE diploma program. In addition to teaching
duties, the Instructor will be responsible for classroom management, advising students, maintenance of student records and grades,
curriculum review/development, liaison with childcare mentors and directors, and other administrative tasks. The successful candidate will
also be responsible for fully participating in all program functions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Manitoba Early Childhood Education level III designation by Province of Manitoba’s Early Learning and Childcare Qualifications

- Three years’ experience working in a childcare facility (licensed, unlicensed, Head Start, etc.)
- Experience coaching or mentoring Child Care Assistants (CCAs) or Early Childhood Educators (ECEs)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and presentational skills
- Excellent problem solving and leadership skills
- Proficiency with relevant educational and MS Office technology/software
- Ability to work independently and in a team-teaching situation
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures
- Commitment to life-long learning
ASSETS
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Early Childhood, Arts, Education, Social Work or Recreation)
- Experience as a supervisor or director of a childcare facility
- Certification in Adult Education
- Experience working in northern and/or Indigenous Manitoba communities
- Experience in post-secondary or adult education (teaching, mentoring, or supervising student placements)
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language and conduct cultural ceremonies or teachings
- Understanding of land or place-based learning objectives
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Completion of Teaching for Learning in Applied Education (TFL) certification within 3 years of employment
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check
- Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canda
