Our Aboriginal Head Start program seeks a kind, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Preschool Classroom Teacher to join our Head Start Team for the upcoming 2026-2027 Academic School Year. The program requires leadership and strong team skills to plan and deliver a cultural-based Early Intervention Program to three to five year old Indigenous children.
The successful candidate should posses a Bachelor of Education degree with familiarity in Early Childhood Education, preferably with preschool aged children, have excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills, have strong collaboration skills, demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as provide a thorough understanding of both the development and implementation of Individual Learning Support Plans (ILSP's).
Experience working with Indigenous families is a definite asset. We are proud to be a highly resourced and sought out culturally-based program and with this comes a large, supportive team. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and willingness to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. As a part of this team that you will help us deliver our top quality preschool program for Aboriginal children and their families in the city of Edmonton.
An Alberta Teaching Certificate (Interim or Permanent) is a requirement for this position, along with a valid Child First Aid Certificate and Current Criminal Record Check and Child and Youth Intervention Check.
Contract length: 10 months with potential for continuation
