Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for the collection, analysis, and reporting of financial activities, including the preparation of financial statements. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to multitask while meeting tight deadlines are essential.
Reporting to the Controller, the ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in financial reporting, a proactive mindset, and the ability to adapt quickly to change. This role is well-suited for a problem-solver who values precision, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Cash flow management
- Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations
- Perform intercompany reconciliations
- Prepare fully supported month-end journal entries
- Prepare month-end financial statements, working papers, and supporting schedules
- Perform monthly variance analysis of financial results
- Assist with the preparation of rolling forecasts and budgets
- Analyze company performance against budgets
- Oversee physical inventory counts
- Prepare audit working papers, schedules for year-end audit and liaise with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and principles (e.g., GAAP, ASPE)
- Drive process improvements and support system upgrades/implementations
- Streamline accounting systems and business processes
- Handle government reporting and remittances (e.g., GST/PST, corporate tax, Statistics Canada)
- Support compliance audits as required
- Oversee customer credit checks, approvals, and collections
- Provide backup, training, and support to accounting staff, including cross-training between divisions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Completion of the third or fourth year of the CPA program, or equivalent (CA, CGA, CMA)
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction or manufacturing industries
- Strong experience in financial reporting and general ledger functions
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and standards
- Proficiency in accounting software (ERP systems preferred)
- Experience with aSa and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is an asset
- Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
- Experience with Business Intelligence and data visualization/reporting tools, such as Looker Studio or Power BI
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong command of English (verbal and written)

Pay: $57,375.66-$90,000.00 per year
