Position Summary
Morskate Manufacturing is expanding in a big way! We're adding 90,000+ sq. ft. to our facility and investing in exciting new technology as we continue to grow. With this expansion comes an exciting opportunity—we are currently seeking a dependable and hardworking Material Handler, in our yard,to join our growing team.
Reporting to the Yard Foreman, you’ll be responsible for safely handling and moving structural steel materials in the yard and supplying the production shop with the materials needed for fabrication. This role works primarily outdoors and involves operating overhead cranes and other equipment to stage and deliver steel to the shop in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate outdoor overhead cranes to move and stage structural steel materials
- Supply raw steel materials from yard laydown areas to the production shop as required for fabrication
- Organize and maintain yard steel inventory to ensure efficient access and safe storage
- Assist with receiving and unloading incoming steel deliveries
- Coordinate with shop personnel to ensure materials are delivered to the shop as needed
- Maintain safe and organized yard work areas, ensuring materials are stored properly and pathways remain clear
- Conduct pre-use inspections of cranes and equipment and report any issues or concerns
- Follow proper rigging practices when moving structural steel materials

Requirements/Qualifications
- Experience operating overhead cranes or similar lifting equipment
- Previous experience in a steel yard, fabrication shop, or industrial environment considered an asset
- Ability to assess weights, judge distances and heights when moving materials
- Must have good time management, organization and people skills
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English clearly
- Possess problem solving skills

We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $23.00-$28.00 per hour, with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, and how well you align with the role. We appreciate dedication and commitment, and we conduct thorough performance reviews after three months and annually to acknowledge outstanding work and support employee growth.
