Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Excavator Operator with a minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil or excavation work. The ideal candidate is confident operating various sizes of excavators, understands grades and trenching, and works efficiently while prioritizing safety.
Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators safely and effectively on active construction sites
- Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and project specifications
- Perform trenching, backfilling, benching, and detailed excavation
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and perform basic maintenance checks
- Work closely with site supervisors, pipe crews, and other operators
- Maintain safe working distances near underground and overhead utilities as well as live traffic
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of verified experience as an excavator operator
- Proficiency with trench boxes, slope work, and grading to spec
- Knowledge of safe digging practices and utility locates
- Strong understanding of machine capabilities and limits
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5 or higher); Class 1 or 3 an asset
- Safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, CSTS) an asset
Hiring Process:
Candidates will be required to complete a paid on-site evaluation test. This full-day assessment will evaluate operating skills, attention to detail, productivity, and safety awareness. Successful candidates from the evaluation will be considered for long-term employment.
Compensation:
