Tribune Seafood is actively growing and is seeking an Accounting and Finance Administrator to join our team. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to support the day-to-day accounting, reporting, and operational functions of the organization.
The Accounting and Finance Administrator will assist with financial activities, bookkeeping support, reporting, invoicing, and administrative coordination, while also contributing to operational projects and process improvements across the organization. Tribune Seafood specializes in the wholesale supply of premium quality fresh and frozen seafood to markets around the world. On the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, Nova Scotia’s proximity to the richest fishing grounds in the world has made it Canada’s largest exporter of fish and seafood. Tribune Seafood is proudly located at the very heart of this industry in the historic coastal fishing community of Sambro, Nova Scotia.
Responsibilities
The Accounting and Finance Administrator’s daily tasks are detailed, high-volume, deadline-based work. Examples of specific duties include (but are not limited to):
- Support accounting and financial administration functions, ensuring regular and timely monitoring and reporting
- Ensure efficient functioning and documentation for all financial systems including receipts, disbursements, billing, and bookkeeping
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and payment processing
- Recording (daily, weekly, monthly) of journal entries preparation of sub-ledgers
- Assist with invoice processing, payment preparation, and account reconciliation
- Processing accounting receivables and incoming payments
- Support international shipment invoicing and related documentation preparation
- Ensure month/quarter/year-end processes are completed in a timely manner to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Uphold and monitor procedures to maintain an organized office environment
- Perform other business-related responsibilities, as requested or assigned by management
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting or related field of study from a recognized university or college or a combination of education, training and experience is required
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to deadlines and ability to stay on task
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft office (Word, Excel)
- A ‘get it done’ attitude
