Why is this role important?
Reporting to the Manager, Workplace Operations, the summer student will coordinate a variety of administration, reception and distribution duties in either the Ottawa or Toronto office.
What you'll do
1. Assist in the setting up and cleaning up of meeting rooms (arranging chairs, tables and supplies), ensuring meeting spaces are tidy and stocked with basic materials.
2. Restock copy paper and supplies at designated stations.
3. Support the maintenance of office supplies.
4. Assist with receiving and sorting mail.
5. Support the onboarding for new hires by setting up supplies, workspaces, IT Equipment (as directed) and personalized nameplates.
6. Serve as secondary support (back up) to the Receptionist by providing support during breaks or absences. Greet visitors, answer basic phone calls,direct inquires as needed and carry out tasks in alignment with CIHIs Security and Access policy and procedure.
7. Performs other office functions as required.
What you'll bring to the table
- Currently enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary program.
- Detail oriented with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills with strong organization and time management skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), email and electronic calendar software.
