Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals in private homes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring dementia care. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, medication administration, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The PSW plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those in their care through empathetic and personalized support.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a respectful and caring environment
- Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to safety protocols
- Support clients with meal preparation and feeding as needed, accommodating dietary restrictions
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and maintaining a hygienic living space
- Monitor clients’ health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals or family members
- Support clients in engaging in recreational activities or exercises suitable for their needs
- Follow care plans accurately and document services provided in compliance with agency policies
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care environments preferred
- Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring dementia care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and caregiving best practices
- Compassionate nature with excellent communication skills and patience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Basic cleaning skills and ability to prepare nutritious meals for clients
- Certification as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) or equivalent is an asset but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided if necessary
- Must be reliable, responsible, and committed to providing high-quality care
