We are currently hiring a skilled and safety-focused Journeyman Electrician / Instrumentation Technician to support our growing operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in industrial electrical systems, PLC controls, and instrumentation.
We welcome applicants who hold a dual Red Seal (Electrician + Instrumentation Technician) or those with a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Industrial Electrical Systems
Lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial power distribution systems, including MCCs, VFDs, motors, and switchgear. Execute high-quality conduit and cable tray installations, perform precise terminations, and ensure all work meets applicable electrical codes and safety standards. Diagnose electrical faults efficiently and implement safe, compliant solutions to restore and optimize system performance.
- Controls & Instrumentation
Specialize in PLC troubleshooting, including I/O verification, signal tracing, and system diagnostics. Calibrate and commission field instrumentation such as pressure, level, temperature, and flow devices. Ensure signal integrity across analog (4–20mA) and digital systems while supporting control panel wiring, device integration, and system modifications.
- System Diagnostics & Reliability
Conduct proactive condition assessments to improve system reliability and reduce downtime. Perform infrared scanning, equipment inspections, and testing of critical assets including breakers, transformers, disconnects, and switchgear. Execute preventive maintenance programs and deliver actionable recommendations to address failures, inefficiencies, and emerging risks.
- Technical Documentation & Planning
Interpret complex electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings, and control diagrams to plan and execute work accurately. Verify field installations against design intent and document all findings, test results, and deficiencies. Identify and communicate discrepancies between drawings and field conditions to support accurate project execution and system integrity.
Serve as the primary on-site technical representative, providing clear communication, professional leadership, and solutions-focused support. Maintain strong client relationships through proactive updates, transparent reporting, and a consultative approach. Identify opportunities to enhance system safety, reliability, and overall operational performance.
- Industrial Electrical Systems

- Execute installation of conduit, cable tray, and industrial equipment in accordance with design drawings and specifications.
- Perform precise cable terminations, motor connections, and panel wiring for complex electrical systems.
- Conduct routine and corrective maintenance on MCCs, motors, VFDs, and distribution panels.
- Diagnose electrical faults using systematic troubleshooting techniques and test equipment.
- Implement safe, code-compliant repairs aligned with CSA, NEC, or site-specific standards.
- Verify proper grounding, bonding, and system integrity across installations.
- Support commissioning activities, including energization and functional verification of equipment.
2. Controls & Instrumentation
Execute advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and integration of control systems and field instrumentation.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Perform PLC troubleshooting, including I/O verification, logic validation, and signal tracing.
- Diagnose communication issues between PLCs, HMIs, and field devices.
- Calibrate and commission instrumentation (pressure, level, temperature, flow) to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Validate and troubleshoot analog (4–20mA) and digital signals across control systems.
- Assist with control panel assembly, wiring, and modifications.
- Integrate new field devices into existing control systems and verify proper operation.
- Support loop checks and system start-up activities.
3. System Diagnostics & Reliability
Drive system reliability through proactive diagnostics, testing, and preventive maintenance strategies.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Conduct infrared (thermographic) inspections to identify overheating components and failure risks.
- Perform detailed inspections of electrical equipment to assess operational health.
- Test and maintain critical assets including breakers, transformers, disconnects, and switchgear.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Analyze equipment performance trends and identify recurring issues.
- Recommend corrective actions, upgrades, or replacements based on system condition.
- Document and report findings with clear, actionable insights.
4. Technical Documentation & Planning
Interpret and produce technical documentation to support accurate execution and system integrity.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Plan work scopes based on technical drawings and field conditions.
- Verify installations against design specifications and identify deviations.
- Document test results, deficiencies, and completed work in detailed reports.
- Maintain accurate records for compliance, maintenance history, and audits.
- Identify and communicate discrepancies between drawings and field conditions.
- Support updates to redlines, as-builts, and documentation packages.
5. Client Partnership
Act as the primary on-site technical representative, delivering clear communication and value-driven solutions.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main point of contact for technical issues and project coordination on-site.
- Communicate scope, progress, risks, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
- Provide real-time problem-solving and decision support during field execution.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, operators, and contractors.
- Deliver professional reporting on system condition, deficiencies, and improvements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Uphold company standards for professionalism, safety, and quality of work.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification (required)
- Instrumentation Technician ticket or electrical apparatus testing experience(preferred) or
- Minimum 3 years experience in industrial instrumentation and controls
- Solid understanding of PLCs, sensors, analog/digital signal wiring, and field devices
- Ability to work from technical drawings and documentation
- Strong safety track record and understanding of field best practices
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
