We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Technician to join our team at Newstead Mechanical Consulting Ltd., an AMVIC-approved, family-owned independent shop located in Calgary.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge and experience in automotive repair, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. This role involves performing a variety of technical tasks while ensuring all work meets our high standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and maintenance including: engine swaps, alignments, tire service, oil changes, brake repair, timing belt/chain service, A/C repair, and exhaust installation/repair.
- Diagnose issues and complete accurate inspections.
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding their vehicle needs.
- Safely perform heavy lifting and operate shop tools/equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace.
Qualifications
- Must have own transportation and be ready to work at shop Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
- Proven experience as a Technician or in a similar role within a dealership or repair shop.
- Enrolled in 3rd–4th year apprenticeship at SAIT (or equivalent), or hold a Red Seal Automotive Technician certificate, or significant industry experience.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and repair multiple systems.
- Proficient with hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Able to safely perform heavy lifting tasks.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Welding experience is an asset but not required.
