We are looking for a contracted paramedic who is interested in working in a Métis Settlement (contracted as an independent contractor).
Role Summary
Provide on-scene assessment, stabilization and treatment; coordinate EMS for transport when indicated; Lead mobile harm-reduction outreach, coordinate patient transfers when needed, support non-emergency transportation for access-barrier clients, conduct in-home wellness visits for seniors, deliver community training on overdose prevention and response, deliver care in a culturally safeway.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to suspected overdoses and other emergencies/urgent conditions; deliver basic life support. Perform permitted advanced interventions (e.g., IV access and naloxone) per protocol and scope of practice.
- Conduct community health centers visits; maintain unit readiness (equipment, supplies, etc.)
- Triage and coordinate ER transfers when necessary; arrangereferrals.
- Conduct in-home wellness visits for seniors, including assessment and administration of indicated medications within PCP scope and authorized protocols.
- Deliver community training on overdose prevention and response, including naloxone administration and emergency activation.
- Collaborate with addiction recovery practitioner and the Knowledge Keeper to ensure cultural safety; engage respectfully with Elders, families, and partners.
- Data & reporting: complete simple program logs/templates (encounters, hours & sites, referrals, ER transfers, unique clients, kits/OAT provided). Exact indicators and forms will be supplied; enter data accurately and on time while protecting privacy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current registration and valid practice permit in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP). Only candidates licensed in Alberta will be considered.
- Graduate of a recognized/accredited PCP education program.
- Current BLS/CPR (HCP).

- Sound clinical judgment and safe triage; calm under pressure. Flexible with weather, rural travel, and pop-up schedules.
- Reliable documentation; comfortable with simple spreadsheets/logs.
