Buteau Core Drilling Ltd. requires an energetic, motivated and career-minded Construction Labourer responsible for performing tasks involving physical labour at residential, commercial, industrial and mining construction projects. Through the regular course of job duties, the Construction Labourer will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools, and various forms of machinery relating to the construction industry. Responsibilities will include the cleaning and preparation of work-sites, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris and removal of waste materials. Must be capable of operating a variety of equipment, which may include: jackhammers, mechanical hoists, laser beams, measuring equipment and a variety of hand tools.
All duties of the Construction Labourer are to be performed according to Buteau Core Drilling Ltd. operating procedures in order to maximize the safety of all personnel at the work site and to efficiently perform the task.
Job Duties
- Clean and perform preparation of work-site.
- Provide assistances to concrete cutting operators.
- Operate jackhammers and drills.
- Shovel gravel and other materials.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Utilize compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
- Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines.
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
- Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
- Perform demolition work and salvage useful materials.
- Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, structural drawings, rough sketches, and specifications to determine work activities.

Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Post-Secondary diploma in a related field preferred
- Currently working in the trade
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to read building specifications, blueprints and as-builds
- Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to students and others.
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary for construction
- Must possess a valid Driver's license
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
