About Us
A Helpful Hand is a locally owned company that has proudly served Edmonton seniors and families for over six years. We provide respectful, person-centred support that helps older adults remain safe, independent, and connected in their own homes.
Responsibilities
As a Personal Assistant, you will:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with clients
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and everyday household tasks
- Help with grocery shopping, errands, and appointments
- Accompany clients on community outings
- Follow client care plans and maintain accurate notes
- Observe changes in a client's well-being and communicate concerns when needed
- Promote a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment
Healthcare experience is not required. We provide guidance and support—you simply need a genuine passion for helping seniors.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys spending time with older adults
- Is compassionate, reliable, and self-motivated
- Works well independently
- Has a valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle with insurance
- Has a smartphone with internet access
- Can obtain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
- Is able to carry groceries and perform light household tasks
Pay & Schedule
- Starting pay: $20.00 per hour
- Part-time daytime hours (Monday to Friday)
- Travel compensation discussed during the interview
- Independent contractor position with flexible scheduling
