About the Team
At Forte Projects, we don't just build; we deliver excellence. We are a construction management team dedicated to high-performance new builds and major renovations. We're looking for a Skilled Carpenter who takes supreme pride in their craftsmanship, possesses sharp structural instincts, and maintains an unmatched eye for fine finish details.
As a senior technical hand on our builds, you aren't just here to execute—you are a mentor. You will play a pivotal role in teaching and upskilling our Site Helpers and Apprentice Carpenters, serving as a ladder for the next generation of builders.
Our Core Values: C.A.R.E.
C – Craft with Pride: We take immense personal ownership of our output. We sweat the details and focus on flawless execution because we stand behind our craftsmanship. Our final presentation and delivery are our signature—always sharp, professional, and unmatched.
A – Act with Kindness & Integrity: We lead with our moral compass. For us, doing the right thing means treating people with genuine kindness, communicating with radical honesty, and building long-term trust through transparent actions—even when no one is watching.
R – Relentless Growth: We refuse to stand still. We are obsessed with improving our skills, learning from setbacks, and approaching every challenge with a fierce growth mindset. We push our collective boundaries and lift each other up so that our team and our clients succeed together.
E – Exceed Expectations: "Good enough" isn't in our vocabulary. We look for hidden opportunities to add massive value, proactively anticipate client needs, and consistently go above and beyond the brief to delight those we serve.
The Digital Advantage: JobTread
We utilize JobTread, a leading construction management platform, to keep our projects on track and our team connected. As a Skilled Carpenter, you will use your smartphone to track your day, access specifications, and orchestrate tasks for the helpers assigned to you.
Your Digital Responsibilities:
- Daily Logging: Use the JobTread app to log progress, upload daily build or millwork photos, and communicate any design hurdles or wins.
- Task Distribution: Check your daily schedules and use the platform to coordinate tasks for the Site Helpers assisting you.
- Time Tracking: Accurately clock in/out and track your hours directly through the platform to ensure precise job costing.
Detailed ResponsibilitiesRough Carpentry & Framing Excellence
- Structural Framing: Execute and oversee layout, measuring, cutting, and assembly of wood framing, floor joists, rafters, engineered lumber, and wall sections with absolute structural integrity.
- Precision Substructures: Install structural backing, blocking, window/door rough openings, and subfloor materials flawlessly to establish perfect lines for succeeding trades.
- Blueprint Master: Read, interpret, and accurately execute complex architectural blueprints, structural sketches, and digital instructions within JobTread.
High-End Finish Carpentry
- Doors & Trim: Efficiently install interior and exterior doors, high-end window units, baseboards, casing, crown molding, and custom trim work to our "unmatched presentation" standard.
- Hardware & Cabinetry: Install architectural hardware, specialized millwork, and built-in components with millimeter-level accuracy.
- Preservation & Deconstruction: Carefully dismantle millwork or structural elements during renovations to safeguard areas intended for preservation.
Team Mentorship & Upskilling
- On-Site Teaching: Actively mentor Site Helpers and Apprentices. Take the time to demonstrate correct techniques, explain the "why" behind structural layout, and teach them how to handle tools safely.
- Leadership by Example: Model a positive work ethic, unmatched site presentation, and a "Safety First" mindset for the junior crew to emulate.
Dynamic Technical Support & Site Stewardship
- Flexible Hands-on Support: Maintain a team-first attitude. When specialized carpentry is not actively required, comfortably jump into general construction support tasks—such as drywall patching, caulking, painting, minor demolition, or safety setup.
- Tool & Site Stewardship: Maintain your specialized carpentry tools meticulously. Ensure your workstations and the broader job site remain clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
What You AREN'T Expected to Do
We believe in setting our team up for success, not stress. As a Skilled Carpenter, we respect your trade boundaries:
- Work Without Structural Clarity: If blueprints or digital instructions in JobTread are ambiguous, we do not expect you to guess. We value open communication over wasting premium lumber.
- Perform Licensed Non-Carpentry Trade Work: While you may assist or work alongside them, you won't be expected to complete specialized electrical wiring, plumbing line tie-ins, or engineering certifications.
- Compromise Safety for Speed: We never expect you to bypass safety protocols or rush a cut to save time. If a setup or tool feels unsafe, you are expected to stop and address it.
- Manage Project Finances: You are responsible for material efficiency at your station, but you are not responsible for client billing, contract negotiations, or overall project budgets.
Why This Matters
By clearly outlining your responsibilities, we ensure you have the space to focus on what you do best: crafting exceptional spaces and passing your knowledge down to the next generation of builders. We handle the administrative and financial weight so you can focus on master-level execution and team leadership.
Who You Are
We believe that advanced techniques can be refined, but work ethic, patience as a teacher, and a good heart cannot.
- The Experienced Craftsman: You possess a deep background in both rough and finish carpentry, with an efficiency in doors and trim that sets the standard for the rest of the site.
- A True Mentor: You are patient, kind, and genuinely invested in watching an Apprentice or Site Helper grow into a skilled specialist.
- Adaptable & Dependable: You have a Relentless Growth mindset. You carry zero ego and are happy to pitch in on general site work when required to keep a project moving forward.
- The Essentials: You have an established set of trade hand tools/belt, a valid Driver's License, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation to navigate between job sites.
Why Join Us? Your Growth Track
Relentless Growth is our operational blueprint. By helping us build our team from within, you prove your value as a leader. We provide a transparent path for upskilling our leaders, offering a clear track to transition from a Skilled Carpenter into a Site Supervisor or Project Management role as Forte Projects continues to expand.
Ready to build something great and lead a team that values your craft? We'd love to hear from you.
