Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced International Freight Manager to lead our global logistics operations. In this role, you will establish the department and operation process to oversee the end-to-end of international freight shipments, ensuring seamless coordination between carriers, customs, and supply chain partners. Your expertise will drive efficiency, optimize costs, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders across B2B sales channels. Responsibilities
Phase 1 (First 1-3 months)
Regulatory & Accreditation
- Lead IATA Cargo Accreditation application
- Lead FMC NVOCC application (if pursuing U.S. NVOCC)
- Set up airline and ocean carrier accounts
- Build overseas agent network
- Establish SOPs for import/export operations
- Implement freight forwarding software
- Develop HBL, shipping instructions, arrival notices, and related documentation
- Establish cargo insurance and claims procedures
Phase 2 (Operations)
Air Freight
- Handle import/export air shipments
- Obtain airline quotations
- Book airline space
- Manage MAWB and HAWB documentation
- Coordinate customs clearance
- Track shipments and resolve service issues
Ocean Freight
- Manage FCL and LCL shipments
- Book with steamship lines
- Issue House Bills of Lading (when applicable)
- Coordinate Master Bills of Lading
- Handle ISF/AMS coordination through filing partners where required
- Manage overseas agent communications
- Resolve detention, demurrage, and cargo exceptions
Phase 3 (Business Development)
- Prepare international freight quotations
- Develop routing solutions
- Build carrier pricing database
- Improve gross margins
- Train sales staff on international products
- Setup and organize to participate Logistics Expo in China
Compliance
- IATA compliance
- FMC/OTI compliance (if applicable)
- Dangerous Goods coordination (if certified)
- Cargo insurance
- Customs documentation oversight
Qualifications
I'd look for someone with:
- Bilingual: English & Mandarin is a must to have (customer base in China)
- 5-10+ years in international freight forwarding
- Experience in both air and ocean freight
- Hands-on experience with IATA Cargo operations
- Experience with FMC NVOCC licensing or working for an NVOCC
- Strong network of carrier and overseas agent contacts
- Experience using systems such as CargoWise, Magaya, or similar forwarding platforms
- CIFFA certification is an asset
- IATA Dangerous Goods certification is a plus

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
