Department: Pharmacy
The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is seeking a Pharmacy Practice Coordinator who will provide leadership and coaching to the Pharmacists and coordinate safe medication practices within the department including the coordination of all clinical pharmacy services. Under the direction of the Manager of Pharmacy, the successful incumbent will provide services that are consistent with the objectives of the Hospital and in accordance with Professional Standards of Practice, Accreditation Standards, and the Federal and Provincial legislation relating to the practice of Hospital Pharmacy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from a Canadian university, or equivalent qualifications as recognized by the Ontario College of Pharmacists, required
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree with completion of a pharmacy residency, or willingness to obtain a PharmD, required
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Pharmacist working in a hospital pharmacy department required
- Current Part A registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
- Membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a management and/or supervisory role preferred
- Experience in Clinical Pharmacy required
- Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures, and legislation related to the safe handling of hazardous medications
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and hospital pharmacy information systems required
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated interest in maintaining professional competence through attendance at conferences and participation in continuing education programs either in hospital or those offered outside of hospital
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with peers and other members of the health care team
- Experience with ensuring compliance with patient safety, staff safety policies and appropriate legislation
- Must demonstrate commitment to ensure their safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers and visitors
- Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
- Good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
