Position Title: Casual – Class 1 Driver

ROLE:
Reporting to the Field Transport Manager, the Casual Class 1 Driver provides on-call transportation support for the safe and timely delivery of materials, equipment, and personnel. This role is engaged on an as-needed basis to support operational demands, including peak periods, staff absences, or project-based work. The Casual Class 1 Driver is responsible for operating commercial vehicles in compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and applicable legislation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate commercial vehicles requiring a Class 1 Driver’s License in a safe and professional manner.
- Transport materials, equipment, and personnel to designated locations.
- Ensure loads are properly secured and transported in accordance with safety standards.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company driving policies.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Identify and report mechanical issues, defects, or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and general condition of assigned vehicles.
- Accurately complete driver logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation.
- Track and report hours worked in accordance with company procedures.
- Report incidents, delays, or safety concerns promptly.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and training as required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation and occupational health and safety regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials as required.
- Provide support to field operations during assignments.
- Follow direction from supervisors regarding schedules, routes, and priorities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating commercial vehicles is required.
- Experience in remote or industrial environments is an asset.
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License (required).
- Clean driver’s abstract.
- Safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, H2S, WHMIS) are considered an asset.
- Ability to work on an on-call, as-needed basis, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel and work in remote locations as required.
- Physically capable of performing job duties, including lifting and securing loads.
