The Opportunity: A Financial Services Assistant to act as a resource advising and assisting students, staff and external clients concerning their financial requests and to carry out the main duties with respect to Accounts Payable for the College with a focus on international payments. This includes: the collection, entry, verification, analysis and manipulation of data. The incumbent ensures the accurate and timely payment of all international commission payments and other international wire transfers that are required. The incumbent is also responsible for the issuance of international refund wire transfers to students. The incumbent will also support the other members of the Accounts Payable Team and ensure accurate and timely payment of all College purchases of goods and services by processing and issuing payments. The Financial Services Assistant also ensures that the financial information being recorded in the College’s general ledger is accurate and in accordance with college policies and procedures and that a sufficient audit trail is maintained. Other duties include: resolving old outstanding payables/purchase orders, daily review of accounts payable, and establishing efficient and organized accounts payables systems and procedures.
What you need to be successful:
- Two-year College diploma in accounting or University Degree in an Accounting Program
- minimum three years demonstrated accounting experience analyzing financial data
- experience in the following:
- preparing of journal entries
- maintaining a general ledger
- assisting in the production of quarterly and year-end financial statements
- demonstrated experience working with spreadsheets and Excel at an intermediate level
- strong knowledge of fund accounting and working in such an environment an asset
- exceptional organizational, mathematical and communication skills
- strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- strong commitment to customer service
This is an Appendix D full-time support staff position, 35 hours/week, Payband F - $32.74 - $37.78/hour (starting rate $32.74/hour).
