Job Overview:
We are seeking an experience Bookkeeper for a full-time permanent position. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience working with all aspects of full-cycle trust accounting and must be conversant with GST and Payroll in Canada.
This position will require the following:
- Reconciling Trust and General Bank Accounts (savings, credit cards, Paypal).
- Keeping the customer payment system updated, including QuickBooks, Pipedrive, and internal spreadsheets.
- Processing charges for professional services and reconciling account.
- Preparing semi-monthly payroll thought Quickbooks.
- Posting accounts and firm expenses receipts.
- Remitting GST and monthly payroll deductions.
- Preparing year-end financial reports and T4 slips.
- Following up on accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Coordinating the charge of professional fees, government fees, and other outstanding payments related to client contracts.
- Following up with potential clients to support the closing of sales, service agreements, and contracts.
- Developing and presenting monthly accounting and financial reports.
- Reviewing financial reports in a timely manner to identify expenses, evaluate cost increases, and follow up on opportunities to control or reduce expenses.Scanning, organizing, and maintaining receipts and financial documentation in OneDrive.
- Supporting the organization of corporate tax information and documentation.
- Working with the tax preparer during reviews, tax preparation, or year-end processes as needed.
- Preparing and submitting service agreements when necessary.
- Supporting human resources and personnel-related matters, including performance follow-up, improvement plans, documentation, and participation in management discussions related to employee performance, salary adjustments, promotions, and internal operational decisions.
- Proactively contributing ideas and proposals for business improvement, operational efficiency, and potential partnerships.Maintaining an updated Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks to ensure accurate financial classification and reporting.
- Assisting the team with other accounting, administrative, and operational duties as required.
- Qualifications
- Spanish Speaker and English advance level
- Solid understanding of Quickbooks
- Accounting degree
- Relevant Bookkeeping experience
- Previous payroll experience
- Knowledgeable with large payroll system
- Good understanding of payroll regulations/requirements and employment standards
- Solid understanding of accounting principles
- Extremely accurate with data entry- you always double and triple-check your work
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Adaptable and flexible, eager and willing to learn
- Ability to work in a team environment and learn from others
- Ability to prioritize and meet payroll deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
