About Border Steel Ltd.:
Border Steel is a leading steel processing company in Windsor, ON, specializing in flame cutting, precision Blanchard grinding, and CNC machining of heavy steel plate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Blanchard grinding machines to grind and finish steel plates to exact specifications
- Maintain required tolerances and surface finish specifications
- Meet production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Safe handling of large steel plates using overhead cranes/magnets
- Knowledge of rigging practices (if applicable)
- Read and interpret work orders and use measurement tools accurately
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality standards
- Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment in top working condition
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and dimensional requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with safety standards
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating Blanchard grinders or similar machining equipment
- Experience working with large steel or heavy industrial parts
- Proficient with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Basic math skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Reliable attendance, self-starter with the ability to work independently and stay productive
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe operating practices
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Assets (Preferred):
- Forklift and/or overhead crane certification
- Knowledge of Blanchard grinding operations

Schedule and Working Conditions:
- Industrial shop environment (steel manufacturing, flame cutting, Blanchard grinding, CNC milling, fabricating)
- 8–10 hour shifts
- Monday to Friday (afternoons or midnights with shift premium)
- Weekends as needed
- PPE required (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
