General Machinist – CNC Boring Mill / CNC Lathe

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced General Machinist to join a heavy industrial manufacturing team producing custom-engineered equipment and large fabricated components. This is a hands-on role responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC and manual machine tools while ensuring precision, quality, and production efficiency.
The ideal candidate has experience machining large components, is comfortable working independently from engineering drawings, and has a strong background with CNC Horizontal Boring Mills, CNC Lathes, or Manual Lathes in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC Horizontal Boring Mills, CNC Lathes, and Manual Lathes.
- Machine large fabricated components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and machining specifications.
- Select tooling, fixtures, and machining methods for efficient production.
- Inspect completed components using precision measuring instruments.
- Perform machine adjustments and basic preventative maintenance.
- Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment to safely load and unload large workpieces.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to meet quality and delivery objectives.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- 429A General Machinist Certificate of Qualification or Red Seal certification is considered a strong asset.
- Experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC machine tools.
- Experience with CNC Horizontal Boring Mills, CNC Lathes, and/or Manual Lathes.
- Mastercam experience is considered an asset.
- Strong blueprint reading and machining skills.
- Experience machining large industrial or heavy fabricated components.
- Comfortable using overhead cranes and precision measuring equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
