Project Manager – Medical Isotope Initiative (Part-Time)
Location: Remote (New Brunswick Preferred)
Travel: Occasional travel between Fredericton, NB and Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station (PLNGS) as required
Employment Type: 12-Month Contract (20 Hours/Week)
Start Date: September 1, 2026
End Date: August 31, 2027 (Potential Extension)
Rate: $80+/hour (Dependent on Experience)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the early planning and development of a strategic initiative at NB Power focused on expanding the use of existing infrastructure at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station for medical isotope irradiation.
This is a unique opportunity to support an innovative project that combines business development, regulatory planning, commercial strategy, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will coordinate multiple workstreams while helping guide the project from concept through partner selection and into the next phase of development.
This is a part-time remote position (20 hours per week). Preference will be given to candidates located in New Brunswick who can travel to Fredericton and Point Lepreau as required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the overall project management plan, schedule, governance framework, and reporting processes.
- Coordinate activities across Business Development, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Procurement, Finance, Communications, and external stakeholders.
- Lead project governance activities, including preparation of executive and steering committee materials.
- Plan and manage the Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI) process from development through partner evaluation and selection.
- Track project risks, issues, decisions, action items, and documentation.
- Support negotiations and execution of commercial partnership agreements.
- Coordinate project planning activities supporting technical design, safety analysis, licensing strategy, and regulatory engagement.
- Prepare executive reports, stakeholder communications, and project status updates.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects from concept or feasibility through implementation planning.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating governance, regulatory, legal, commercial, and technical workstreams.
- Experience supporting procurement, partner selection, or competitive processes such as REOI/RFPs.
- Ability to manage projects with evolving scope and changing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across engineering, commercial, finance, procurement, and legal disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Partnership-based delivery models, joint ventures, or strategic commercial partnerships.
- Regulated industries such as nuclear, utilities, energy, infrastructure, or government.
- Executive governance and steering committee reporting.
- Commercial agreements, contract strategy, and risk allocation.
- Business development initiatives involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
