Southview Trucking is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate freight movement and support daily trucking operations.
The Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling drivers, managing LTL and FTL loads, maintaining clear communication with drivers and customers, and ensuring on-time, efficient deliveries. This role plays a key part in keeping operations running smoothly while delivering a high level of service and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers for long-haul LTL and FTL loads across Canada and the U.S.
- Plan and optimize routes with a focus on efficiency, cost control, and on-time delivery
- Monitor driver progress, hours of service (HOS), and ensure compliance with regulations
- Communicate with drivers daily regarding load details, delays, and border requirements
- Track shipments and proactively resolve issues in transit
- Work closely with customers, brokers, and customs to ensure smooth cross-border movement
- Manage load scheduling, changes, and last-minute adjustments in a fast-moving environment
- Maintain accurate dispatch records and documentation
Qualifications
- Previous dispatch experience in long-haul trucking (LTL/FTL preferred)
- Strong understanding of cross-border freight operations (Canada/U.S.)
- Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) and transportation regulations
- Ability to think ahead, problem-solve quickly, and stay organized under pressure
- Excellent communication skills with both drivers and customers
- Experience with dispatch, TMS, or fleet management software
- Familiarity with customs and border documentation is a strong asset
