Join us as a Regional Lab Coordinator in our Regional Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (RDPN) Program and play a key role in delivering high-quality, hands-on education.
- Location: Kamloops, BC
Employment: Part-time (2.5 hours per week; flexible scheduling)
- Compensation: $40 per hour
This role offers flexibility in how hours are scheduled. While the position averages approximately 2.5 hours per week, hours may be distributed variably throughout the month based on operational needs. The Regional Lab Coordinator has flexibility to attend the lab at times that align with their schedule, provided responsibilities are completed in a timely and consistent manner.
What You Will Do:
- Review relevant curriculum and supply lists in advance, ensuring a clear understanding of expectations and that the lab is appropriately prepared and equipped to support delivery of the curriculum. Clarify any questions prior to the start of the lab course;
- Prepare for the delivery of the lab course by ensuring the lab facility and its equipment is set up and functioning effectively, supplies are ordered and stocked, and the space is organized for learning;
- Manage inventory at the regional lab site, including tracking supply levels, maintaining accurate inventory records, and identifying and communicating reordering needs through established processes;
- Orient lab faculty to lab facilities, equipment, supplies, and safety protocols, and incident reporting processes in preparation for lab delivery;
- Act as a simulation champion at the regional site, supporting faculty in the effective use of simulation and lab practices, including providing guidance, training, and troubleshooting related to simulation activities;
- In collaboration with the Simulation Lab Manager, represent Stenberg College and the RDPN Program at accreditation-related regional lab site visits.
Who You Are:
- A Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with a relevant degree, with a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience
- Someone who has experience coordinating a team in a health care setting.
- Dedicated to lifelong learning in nursing best practices.
- Someone with a deep understanding of the BCCNM Practice and Ethical Standards for RPN’s
- Committed to understanding the needs of a diverse population of faculty, staff and students and able to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience or interest in simulation-based education and supporting faculty in teaching practices is considered an asset;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
