Job Summary:
We are a small, dynamic law firm located in downtown Ottawa, across from the courthouse, seeking a dedicated Family Law Assistant/Law Clerk to join our team. This full-time, in-person position offers a salary starting at $65,000, increasing dependent on work experience and qualifications. There is some flexibility regarding exact office hours and daily start time. The start date is negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicating with clients on administrative matters
- Assisting with file management and disclosure management
- Document production
- Serving and filing court documents
- Drafting and editing court documents and correspondence
- General clerical work
Requirements:
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, including Outlook and Word
- Strong writing skills are imperative
- Client service or customer service experience is highly valued
- Minimum 1 year of work experience as a family law assistant or clerk or a minimum of 2 years of experience as a law clerk or legal assistant in other areas of law
- Enjoy learning new technologies and working with new apps
- Good organizational skills and a general propensity to orderliness
- Willingness to carefully follow confidentiality and privacy protocols
