Responsibilities
- Operating and driving a tractor-trailer to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently.
- Be able to cross the border to the United States.
- Deliver loads to the New York City area with multiple stop deliveries.
- Load, unload, and secure cargo while ensuring compliance with all transportation safety regulations.
- Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including tires, brakes, lights, refrigeration units, and other equipment.
- Monitor the overall condition of the vehicle and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor roadside repairs, including brake adjustments when required.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured to prevent damage during transportation.
- Maintain accurate records of cargo information, hours of service, fuel consumption, and distance travelled.
- Receive and relay information to the central dispatch regarding deliveries, routes, delays, and other operational matters.
- Comply with all federal and provincial transportation regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and professional vehicle and represent the company courteously and professionally.
Requirements
- Valid Class 1/A (AZ) Driver's Licence.
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial truck driving experience in North America is required.
- Need letters of experience from previous employers to verify experience.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and commercial driving practices.
- Ability to travel frequently and work flexible schedules, including long-haul trips when required.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
