Behavior Therapist Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The Behavior Therapist (BT) provides one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The BT implements individualized treatment plans, collects objective data, promotes skill acquisition, and supports behavior reduction while creating a positive, engaging, and child-centered learning environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Implement individualized ABA treatment plans as designed by the supervising BCBA.
- Teach communication, social, play, daily living, and adaptive skills using evidence-based ABA strategies.
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and replacement behavior programs.
- Collect accurate session data and complete documentation within required timelines.
- Build rapport and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with clients and families.
- Use reinforcement, prompting, prompt fading, and error correction procedures as outlined in treatment plans.
- Assist with toileting, feeding, and other activities of daily living when appropriate.
- Prepare therapy materials and maintain an organized, clean, and safe treatment environment.
- Communicate professionally with caregivers and the clinical team regarding client progress and concerns.
- Attend supervision, trainings, and team meetings as scheduled.
- Follow all company policies, ethical guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and BACB supervision requirements.
- Ensure client safety at all times and respond appropriately to challenging behaviors using approved behavior management procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in psychology, education, special education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children is preferred but not required.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, families, and other professionals.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between client locations as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, and move quickly throughout therapy sessions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to actively engage in floor play and recreational activities.
- Ability to safely respond to client behaviors, including blocking, redirection, and assisting with transitions when trained.

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
