We are currently hiring an Commissioning Process Technician to support a water treatment operations project team in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Process, the Commissioning Process Technician, Water Operations, is a member of a commissioning team responsible for facility startup of two water treatment facilities in the Elk Valley over the next six to twelve months.
To be successful, we are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful individual with strong learning agility and with exceptional interpersonal, hands-on, and communication skills, who can effectively learn from and engage with professionals across departments and at varying levels of the organization; someone with strong attention to detail, problem-solving, troubleshooting, decision-making, analytical, hands-on, and organizational abilities.
This position requires a flexible individual who can adapt to changing needs in fast-paced environment, and who can work with nominal supervision using a collaborative approach on a team that tackles complex and novel issues. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker who can drive and keep pace with change and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Collaborate with others on the commissioning team to execute the facility commissioning plan on schedule
- Analyze process data and make recommendations to the commissioning team for advancing the commissioning plan based on results
- Work closely with operations, maintenance and automation teams to troubleshoot process units that require additional attention
- When issues are identified, recommend path forward based on findings and document all changes through the Management of Change process
- Work closely with operations to execute process changes
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience focused on water/wastewater treatment, bioorganic, or similar pilot projects, or industries
- Post secondary diploma or degree in Water, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical discipline is required.
- Experience working in a water or wastewater treatment facility or a similar commissioning/operation is a strong asset.
- Experience with ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, high density sludge or similar clarifiers is a strong asset.
- Technical fundamentals in this role include fluid mechanics, solids/slurry handling, basic chemistry and an understanding of process control.
- Mechanical aptitude in this role is considered an asset.
- Driver’s license required
