We are a high-volume, top-producing mortgage broker seeking an experienced Junior Mortgage Underwriter.
This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and confident to balance customer service with sound underwriting practices. You must already understand the full mortgage lifecycle and be confident to manage it independently.
Licensed in BC or AB is considered an asset.
MUST PHYSICALLY RESIDE IN BC OR AB. Applicants from other provinces cannot be considered.
Responsibilities - responsibilities are managed and observed by a licensed Broker
- Input deals and manage files in Velocity
- Collect and review documents for accuracy through email
- Communicate with clients throughout the process via phone and email
- Work with lenders to move approvals and conditions forward (via portals or email)
- Following AML, compliance, and FINTRAC requirements
- Receiving and satisfying conditions from lenders (portals or email)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with BDMs and referral partners through responsive communication and support
- Fulfillment duties including arranging lawyers, follow ups, and FCT communications
- Administrative tasks - post-funding follow ups, filing and recording relevant information (Google Sheets)
- Other duties as required to support business needs
Requirements - A.K.A. What WE are looking for:
- BROKER CHANNEL EXPERIENCE HIGHLY VALUED
- 3+ years of financial lending, mortgages preferred
- Strong tech skills including Adobe, Google, and CRMs
- Strong verbal phone communication skills (client & lender-facing)
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong understanding of residential mortgage underwriting and risk assessment
- Strong analytical skills with sound judgment and attention to detail
- Experience with Velocity an asset
- Lender product knowledge an asset
