Overview
The dietitian is accountable and responsible for the provision of nutritional care to hospital & its affiliates’ patients as established by the College of Dietitians of Ontario and the standards of nutritional care of the hospital. You will be given theopportunity to provide excellent care in an interdisciplinary team setting. Area of Primary Responsibility will be providing nutrition care in Complex Continuing Care including but not limited to Long-term Ventilation, palliative care, inpatient rehabilitation, inpatient geriatrics as well as the responsibilities of assisting with other inpatient unit coverage as required. This role may also include a day off-site at MGH’s transitional care unit. Primary area of assignment can be subject to change. Secondary coverage areas include the intensive care unit, stroke, respirology, medicine, surgery, and ambulatory care. All Dietitians are expected to act as clinical preceptors for Dietitian students & support staff onboarding/orientation. This role will include weekend rotations as required.
Education
- University Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or recognized equivalent required.
- Registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario required.
- Successful completion of dietetic internship program accredited by EQUAL.
- Registration with the Dietitians of Canada preferred.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in acute care nutrition.
- Experience in surgical, medicine, intensive care, and stroke nutrition care is preferred - Recent experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition support required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive assessment and nutritional care planning. - Demonstrated ability to provide collaboration and consultation with inter-professional team and community resources.
- Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning principles topatient and family education.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver education to various groups including other health professionals, students, patients/ families, colleagues and community agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in professional development, program and hospital development, implementation and evaluation of services.
- Demonstrated patient centered philosophy of care provision.
- Demonstrated ability to welcome change and manage it innovatively.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning.
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Computer skills (Microsoft applications).
- Good work andattendance record required.
