Position Overview
The City of Kamloops has an opportunity for a technically skilled permanent, full-time Engineering Development Technician II to join our Engineering Development team. In this role you will review and report on complex engineering plans, design drawings and projects, and inspect construction developments for municipal infrastructure to ensure compliance to municipal standards. As a key member of the team, you will play an important role in supporting sustainable growth and helping shape the future development of our community. This position requires a well-organized, resourceful, and collaborative individual with strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Completion of senior secondary school or its equivalent.
- Completion of a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Minimum three years’ experience in design and field inspection of municipal facilities, including waterworks, sewage, roads, and structures.
- Registered as a Certified Technician (CTech) in Civil with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC).
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE local 900 position.
