Job Overview
Role Summary: As the Director of IT, you provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organization’s entire technology ecosystem. You are responsible for aligning technical initiatives with long-term business goals, managing high-performing engineering teams, and ensuring robust digital product development within the Canadian Mortgage Industry.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Governance: Oversee the department’s vision, strategy, and roadmap. Establish IT governance frameworks to manage risk, ensure compliance, and oversee cybersecurity protocols.
- Operational Excellence & Methodology: Direct the execution of digital products using Agile, Lean, and Scrum methodologies. Oversee infrastructure and DevOps initiatives to ensure high availability, scalability, and system performance.
- Financial & Resource Management: Exercise full accountability for departmental budget planning, forecasting, and P&L (Profit and Loss) management. Optimize technology spend while maintaining high operational standards.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and scale cross-functional engineering teams. Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Product Strategy & Design: Champion a product-centric culture that integrates UX/UI design principles and robust digital asset management into the core business cycle.
- Business Intelligence & Process Optimization: Leverage business analytics to streamline processes across company departments. Integrate technological services that drive business efficiency and provide a competitive edge in the mortgage industry.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary conduit between the technical department and executive leadership. Deliver complex technical reports, business-level insights, and strategic updates to stakeholders.
- Vendor & Asset Management: Oversee relationships with third-party technology partners, ensuring procurement and service-level agreements (SLAs) align with the organization's strategic requirements.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in the modern web stack, including JavaScript, TypeScript, .NET Core 9+, C#, and PostgreSQL.
- Infrastructure: Advanced experience managing multi-cloud environments, specifically Google Cloud, Azure, and AWS.
- Design & UX: Solid hands-on experience in UX/UI Design (3+ years) with proficiency in Figma and the development of cohesive Design Systems.
- Software Development: Over 8+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a proven ability to architect complex, scalable solutions.
- Leadership: Demonstrated management expertise with 4+ years in leadership positions, guiding teams through agile transformation and delivery.
- Communication: Exceptional English proficiency (Native or CLB 9 equivalent), with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
