Your Opportunity
One Permanent Full Time Position.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator plans, schedules and coordinates repair and preventative maintenance activities by managing work requests, analyzing job requirements and determining material, equipment and labor requirements, as well as preparing and issuing work packages.
The preparation of work packages may include working with drawings, parts lists, preventative maintenance procedures and safe work plans, coordinating work clearance applications, arranging for the pre-staging of parts, and interfacing with contractors. In consultation with Operations, Maintenance, and Management, the Maintenance Coordinator schedules the work to optimize the utilization of the station resources. The Maintenance Coordinator manages the assets work order backlog and coordinates and bundles work to complete as required. The incumbent may be required from time to time to work with the Maintenance Technicians on the tools, as needed.
You will contribute to our team by:
- Plan work orders by using their hands on technical expertise and experience. Work order planning involves investigating and determining manpower, materials, and resource requirements.
- Assist the Maintenance department and other planning disciplines to schedule work in an effective manner, ensuring all required parts, manpower, contractors, and other resources are available, and attend the daily planning meeting with operations.
- Help the Maintenance department evaluate and act upon suggestions for improving safety, equipment reliability, crew productivity and maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Understand station-operating processes, are skilled in applying planning principles and techniques, and skilled in the use of various business software and work management and/or planning software applications.
- Provide the shutdown group all necessary support during planned outages.
- Ensure Unit Off Hot/Cold work is fully planned and ready for any unscheduled outage or emergent work.
- Possess a clear understanding of work processes and the interrelationships between departments both internal and external to the station.
- Can multi-task effectively, communicate and foster a positive work environment between various work groups, pay attention to detail and possess strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ensure up-to-date bill-of-materials, appropriate stock levels are setup for spare parts, and assisting SCM in sourcing non-stock materials are required.
- Ensure contractors have been appropriately setup and meet Capital Power’s requirements.
- Maintain PM tasks by generating PM work orders, updating frequencies, scope of work, and adding/deleting tasks
- Take part in all Team and Safety meetings.
- Drive continual improvement and cost effectiveness in the completion of tasks.
- Effectively manage their workorder backlogs, keeping statuses and priorities up to date, notes entered as required, and ensuring work is being scheduled by appropriate priority.
- Utilize processes in place to make new stock items their order points and min/max, and follow rebuild procedures including tracking of rebuilt items from a maintenance perspective.
- Fully utilize current computer based maintenance systems for searching for parts or entering work requests and making work orders from the Core Team Meetings.
- Remain current with up and coming technologies and help make recommendations for upgrades or updates to plant equipment.
- Attend tailboards and bring ideas for improving maintenance procedures to the department.
- Write and maintain Maintenance Procedures as required.
- Ability to work within budget constraints.
- Have proven ability at preparing work packages for maintenance work.
- Multi-task effectively.
- Ensure work order scheduling is performed with consideration to risks to Health, Safety, and environmental needs as well as production risks. Seeks input from Manager if uncertain.
- Provides maintenance solutions to the department to allow for safe, efficient and effective lockouts.
- Act as site contact for contractors ensuring they are following site Safety Policies.
- Be a good communicator and foster a positive work environment between various work groups.
- Coordinates parts orders with maintenance department and Supply Chain.
- Work with other work groups (disciplines and departments) to ensure safe and efficient maintenance is completed.
- Prepares the day ahead plan and presents to the operations team.
- Arranges rental equipment as required
- Collaborate with Asset and Project Engineering to plan and schedule project and MOC work.
- Site contact for on-going maintenance vendors such as scaffolders, HVAC, insulators, Hoist & Crane etc.
- Assist with warehousing, shipping/receiving, etc.
What you will bring to the role:
Education
- Completed degree preferred or technical diploma related to safe and efficient maintenance of a power plant.
- Trade Certification(s).
Experience
- Prior planning experience in an Industrial Environment
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Power Plant
- Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of planning software
Working Conditions:
- Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety sensitive location.
- Physical mobility and ability to use PPE are required.
- Union/out-of-scope work force.
Additional Details:
Union: PWU
Wage Range: $71.31 per hour
Hours of Work: 10 hour shifts
This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug & alcohol test is required, subject to applicable law.
Clearance of a pre-employment medical will also be required.
