We are seeking a talented, experienced, and compassionate Dog & Cat Groomer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in a variety of breed-specific cuts, comfortable with both canine and feline grooming, and possess exceptional customer service skills. You will be responsible for providing high-quality grooming services, ensuring the comfort and safety of our animal clients, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Responsibilities:
- Perform full-service grooming for dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, dematting, clipping, scissoring, nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression (if trained and comfortable).
- Consult with pet owners to understand their grooming preferences, address any concerns, and provide expert advice on coat care and maintenance.
- Assess the pet's coat and skin condition, identifying any potential issues and communicating them to the owner and/or management.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized grooming station and work area, adhering to all sanitation and safety protocols.
- Handle pets with patience, kindness, and a gentle touch, prioritizing their comfort and well-being throughout the grooming process.
- Recognize and address signs of stress or discomfort in pets, adjusting grooming techniques as needed.
- Accurately complete grooming records and update client files.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, colleagues, and management.
- Assist with other salon duties as needed, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining common areas.
- Stay updated on current grooming trends, techniques, and pet care best practices.
Qualifications:
- Looking for someone to have a professional dog and cat grooming experience in a salon setting.
- Demonstrable portfolio or strong references showcasing a wide range of grooming styles and techniques.
- Proficiency in handling various breeds and temperaments of dogs and cats.
- Certification from a recognized grooming academy or equivalent on-the-job training is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of animal behavior, health, and common grooming-related conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle active animals safely.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
- Passion for animals and a genuine desire to provide exceptional care.
