OUMA is a bridal boutique in the heart of Vancouver’s mount pleasant that embodies timeless elegance and high-fashion inspired sophistication. OUMA dresses are more than meets the eye — they are specifically tailored by designer and founder, Ou Ma, to bring your wedding dreams to life.
The Role:
We are seeking a part-time Seamstress to join our studio in Vancouver, BC. Reporting directly to the Designer and production manager of OUMA, the seamstress will be responsible for producing production dresses of all OUMA Collection styles.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional production sewing.
- Must have experience in bridalwear, eveningwear, or corsetry sewing.
- Excellent knowledge and previous experience working on bridal dresses or evening dresses or delicate fabrics including but not limited to: chiffon, lace, and/or tulle.
- Excellent knowledge and previous experience working on delicate laces and beadings.
- Excellent knowledge and previous experience working on rolled hems, French seams, and blind stitches.
- Proven efficiency in reading and interpreting patterns and instructions.
- Proven efficiency in duplicating dresses in production with consistent sewing and quality.
- Previous experience with hand sewing is considered an asset.
- Previous experience with cutting is considered an asset.
- Previous experience with patternmaking is considered an asset.
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating fabric requirements.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Proven self-starter who enjoys building collaborative partnerships.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, always changing environment.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
