We are seeking an organized, motivated, and people-focused HR Generalist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, building strong workplace relationships, supporting employee development, and contributing to a positive organizational culture.
About the Role
The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting the organization's Human Resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training coordination, and HR administration. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership teams to ensure efficient HR processes while helping Care attract, develop, and retain exceptional employees.
This position is primarily based in Wembley, Alberta; however, we recognize the value of attracting the best candidate and may consider a work location in Grimshaw, Alberta for the successful applicant. Regular travel within the service area may be required.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment and hiring processes.
- Create and manage job postings through various recruitment platforms.
- Screen applications and coordinate interviews.
- Conduct reference checks and prepare employment offers.
- Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new employees.
- Maintain recruitment records and hiring documentation.
Human Resources Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee files and records.
- Prepare and update employment agreements and HR documents.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment matters.
- Coordinate employee access to HR systems and assist with basic HR system troubleshooting.
- Assist with policy and procedure updates.
- Participate in workplace investigations involving harassment, violence, bullying, and other employee relations matters.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Support employee engagement initiatives and workplace culture development.
- Assist managers with performance management processes and documentation.
- Help coordinate employee recognition and retention initiatives.
- Support leadership teams with staffing requirements, recruitment planning, and organizational workforce needs
Training & Development
- Coordinate employee training and onboarding requirements.
- Track training completion and compliance requirements.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of training materials and programs.
- Recommend improvements to training processes and employee development opportunities.
Health and Safety
- Assist with workplace injury reporting and documentation.
- Coordinate communication with workers' compensation boards.
- Manage modified duties and return-to-work plans.
- Maintain confidential injury and accommodation records.
Organizational Support
- Attend meetings and provide recruitment and staffing updates.
- Assist with audit preparation and document organization.
- Support various organizational projects and administrative initiatives.
- Promote a collaborative, professional, and positive workplace environment.
QualificationsPreferred
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Human Resources experience, preferably in a non-profit, healthcare, community support, or human services environment.
- CPHR designation or working toward a CPHR designation is considered an asset.
Required
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, employment practices, and confidentiality requirements.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and HR-related software systems.

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
