As a Career and Employment Advisor, you will actively support individuals in overcoming barriers to employment by providing skill and interest assessments, career advising, job search support, resume and cover letter development, and more.
We believe that skills can be taught, but attitude cannot. The most important qualification is a willingness to learn, excitement to help others, and the desire to make this role your own.
What You'll Do
- Create employment opportunities for clients by building and maintaining employer partnerships.
- Support jobseekers throughout their employment or professional development journey by providing:
- Resume and cover letter writing support
- Assessments
- Career advising
- Interview preparation sessions
- Experiential learning opportunities
- Work retention supports
- Provide flexible learning supports to adult learners with varying communication styles.
- Maintain accurate records of confidential client information.
- Collaborate with a multifunctional team to ensure coordinated, high-quality service delivery and achievement of program outcomes.
- Use case management systems to document participant interactions and progress.
- Adhere to organizational policies related to confidentiality, privacy, and data integrity.
- Provide additional program supports as needed.
- Participate in occasional community engagement and employer outreach activities.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who is:
- Engaging, adaptable, collaborative, and empathetic. (This is important!)
- A people person who is confident with networking.
- Detail-oriented and flexible, with the ability to manage multiple priorities that can change quickly. (No two days are the same in this role.)
- Passionate about learning and teaching others. Certification or experience in education or adult learning is an asset, but we're primarily looking for someone with the right attitude and personality.
- An active listener committed to providing a first-class experience for both clients and employers. (Yes, our clients talk—we listen more. Use your spider senses!)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and some PowerPoint), Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
- Certified, formally trained, or experienced in adult learning, career counselling, coaching, mentoring, or related fields.
- Experienced with CRM systems (considered an asset).
Working Conditions / Other Requirements
- In-person position with some community engagement and employer outreach.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for events or deadlines.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
