Job Details:
Position Title: Indigenous Student Success Coordinator
Status: Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Indigenous Education & Engagement
Campus/Location: North Campus (In Person), with regular travel to Lakeshore Campus as required to lead Indigenous student services, programming, and team collaboration across both sites.
Salary Range: $47.13 - $54.48
Starting Salary: $47.13
Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
About the Indigenous Education & Engagement Department at Humber:
Indigenous Education & Engagement (IE&E) works in partnership with regional Indigenous communities to ensure Indigenous students are supported and connected to their learning environment - academically, culturally and socially. IE&E is committed to braiding Indigenous Ways of Being, Knowing, and Doing into Humber’s academic programs, course content and co-curricular activities.
About the Role:
The Indigenous Student Success Coordinator is responsible for fostering a welcoming, culturally grounded community for Indigenous learners at Humber and the University of Guelph-Humber. This role leads the development, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of student support programs and services, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues and departments across the institution.
Reporting to the Manager of Indigenous Education & Engagement, the Coordinator ensures the timely delivery of strategic retention and academic support initiatives, as identified by the Humber Indigenous community and aligned with the Ministry’s Post-Secondary Education Strategic priorities.
The Indigenous Student Success Coordinator supports Indigenous learners throughout their journey from pre-application to graduation using a holistic, Indigenous student-centered approach. Programming focuses on strengthening student capacity, supporting transitions into post-secondary education, and fostering belonging through culturally relevant and inclusive methods of delivery.
The incumbent is responsible for connecting Indigenous students to campus supports and services, including peer tutoring, counselling, and financial aid resources such as band funding and bursary opportunities. The Coordinator also serves as a primary resource for prospective and current Indigenous students and performs other related duties as required.

Education
Degree or diploma in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Business, Public Relations, Community Development, or related field.
Experience/Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience in:
Designing, delivering, and evaluating culturally grounded programs and services that support Indigenous student transition, retention, and success in a post-secondary environment.
Working directly with Indigenous students, demonstrating an understanding of diverse lived experiences, including transitions from urban, rural, and remote communities.
Applying strong knowledge of Indigenous histories, cultures, teachings, and the ongoing impacts of colonization within student support and programming practices.
Coordinating events, facilitating workshops, and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
Connecting students to institutional supports and resources, including financial aid, counselling, tutoring, and band funding processes.
Building and sustaining relationships with Indigenous communities, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Managing multiple priorities independently within a collaborative environment, demonstrating strong organizational and time-management skills.
Using digital tools (e.g., databases, spreadsheets, scheduling systems) to support program coordination, tracking, evaluation, and reporting.
